This download contains two detail.pcx files (a 128x128 version, and a 512x512 version). Either of these can be used to increase the terrain detail texture, which can improve the sense of speed in Jane's F-18.

WHAT IS SHOOT?
-------------------------
Shoot is a speech recognition program that emulates keyboard keystrokes when the user issues a voice command. Shoot may be downloaded here.

DESCRIPTION/PHILOSOPHY OF THE SLIKK SHOOT PROFILE
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It occurred to me that when we talk we often use several different phrases to say the same thing, especially in the heat of battle when everything is at a frenzied pace. So Instead of just using the basic game commands, I took a different approach in putting this profile together.  I used several voice commands to trigger a given key command.

For example, a basic command to tell your flight to attack air targets might be “Attack air targets”. The way this profile is set up, you can use several phrases and your wingmen would still give the correct response. Other verbal commands that would get a “Roger, Attacking” response from your wingies include:
"Engage bandits"
"Engage fighters"
"Engage all"
"Target all"
"Attack all"
"Clear to engage"
"Clear to engage bandits"
"Attack bandits
"Weapons free"
"Weapons hot"
"Cleared hot"

It doesn't matter which of these commands you use, because any one of them sends your flight to attack enemy bandits. In the Jane’s FA-18 Shoot profile there are over 19,000 voice commands that can be used. This makes for a very immersive and realistic sim experience.

Everything from game controls to menu commands are in this profile, but you will have to replace key commands such as Flaps, Gear, etc., with your own key commands because I seldom use stock settings. However, all of the menu and wingman commands are stock, so you will not have to alter any of these commands.

Also, there are several commands that respond to me as the player. For example: "This is Slikk requesting permission to land". This phrase would get a response from the control tower with landing procedures. If you take a look at the profile, you will see my name “Slikk” throughout the profile. You should replace “Slikk” with your own name. Once you do, the game will respond to you when you request vector to target, refueling, etc., using your own name.

I would recommend that you read through the profile to get an idea of all the phrases that can be used with this profile.

INSTALLATION
---------------------
1. Place the (FA-18.xml) file into the "C:\Program Files\Shoot\Shoot-1.6.4\Profiles" folder.
2. Remap conflicting key commands.

NOTES
----------

In this profile the (*) key is used as the push to talk key (PTT).

It may take around twenty or thirty seconds for this profile to load. This is normal, as it is a very big file.

I have added a mic key sound mod along with this profile. Just place the sound files into the "C:\Program Files\Shoot\Shoot-1.6.4\Sounds" folder. Don't forget to make a backup of your stock sound files.

Enjoy!

1.0 - initial release

file icon RampStrikeBeGonehot!
16.04.2009
This utility was developed in response to the "ramp strike bug", a quirk that seems to plague certain campaign missions, most notably in the Valhalla Campaign. Occasionally the player aircraft will explode without warning or cause as it crosses the carrier fantail on approach for landing.

Since the ramp strike bug could result in an unrealistic loss of airframes in a campaign, this utility will allow you to restore those destroyed airframes and revive the pilots killed. It will also allow you to fly a campaign with a single pilot, even if that pilot is killed or captured.

What the utility will not do is prevent campaign failure if a campaign is set up to count airframe losses in its scoring system.
